MU News | Provincial Department of Commerce Leads a Research Visit to Yiwu Operation Headquarter

On September 3, the provincial on-site meeting for the high-quality development of cross-border e-commerce was held in Yiwu. Chen Zhicheng, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Commerce, led a delegation to visit MU Group’s Yiwu Operation Headquarter. The group included Wei Zunhong, Director of the Provincial Postal Administration, Bai Hongxia, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education, Wang Jiong, Full-time Deputy Secretary of the Internet Enterprise Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and Yu Chongbo, Member of the Party Committee of China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation Zhejiang Branch. They were joined by several city and county-level leaders responsible for commerce. MU Group President Tom Tang and Assistant President William Wang accompanied them during the visit.

The delegation conducted an on-site inspection of the operations at the Yiwu office, learning about the current state of the group’s business. They paid particular attention to the development of the cross-border e-commerce segment.

President Tom Tang introduced MU Group, established in the end of 2003, which now includes the dual headquarters model with Ningbo Headquarter and Yiwu Operation Headquarter, along with six major operation centers in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Shantou, as well as multiple domestic and international branches. MU adheres to the strategic direction of “all categories, all channels, globalization, all platforms, and all models”, establishing several localized e-commerce teams both domestically and abroad. Its cross-border business spans dozens of platforms, with its GMV doubling year over year. MU aims to become China’s first all-category supply chain management enterprise going global, providing global customers with Chinese products and services of extreme cost performance.

At the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, MU organized initiatives like “Hundred-Regiment Campaign in Hundred-Countries and Thousand-Cities”, actively pursuing orders and expanding markets, delivering outstanding results. Once the pandemic ended, we quickly dispatched over a thousand people to Guangzhou for an all-out effort. At the Canton Fair complex, MU established a permanent 3,000m2 showroom to provide nearby services to global clients attending the exhibition. Additionally, we invested in the construction of the MU Building, with a total building area of nearly 120,000 square meters, attracting upstream and downstream industrial chains and trade service companies. Beyond physical infrastructure, the company’s internal entrepreneurial culture continues to thrive, with constant organizational expansion. The MU Academy has been cultivating talent for the industry for over a decade.

During their visit to the showroom, the delegation showed great interest, stopping to observe the cross-border live streaming sales area. They recognized the company’s efforts to enhance product value and competitiveness through development and design in an era of product surplus. They encouraged MU to continue exploring new trade formats, developing new foreign trade productivity, and achieving high-quality growth.

MU Group began its foreign trade and procurement activities in Yiwu’s Huangyuan Market in 1999. The company’s first office was located at Unit 302, Building 9, Jiangdong Shangyuan. After four relocations, the company moved to Workers’ North Road 452, Zongze North Road 220, Qiushi Road 113, and now at Chengbei Road 699. It is one of the oldest and largest international trade companies in Yiwu. The MU Building in Yiwu was also fully topped off in March this year, contributing to the construction of Yiwu’s “Sixth Generation Market”.
