As the new year begins, everything takes on a new look. The 20th Anniversary Celebration of MU Group was held on the afternoon of January 1, 2024, at Ningbo Olympic Sports Center. Over 7,000 customers, partners, colleagues, and their family members gathered to witness this significant milestone in history.
Under the night sky, the lights at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center shone brightly, filled with joy and laughter. The celebration not only nostalgically reviewed the entrepreneurial history of the past two decades but also expressed deep gratitude to our global customers, suppliers, colleagues, and their families. In the new twenty years, we solemnly sound the battle oath, “TO BE NO.1!” President Tom Tang, along with group leaders Jeff Luo, Henry Xu, Amenda Weng, Eric Zhuang, Amanda Chen, William Wang, Sam Zhu, and leaders from various business divisions and subsidiaries, attended this event.
Wang Shi, the founder of China Vanke Co., Ltd., and Ye Guofu, the founder and CEO of MINISO, along with our first customer and largest customer, extend their congratulations. They send their best wishes to MU, urging us to continue progressing in the new twenty years and to remain friends with time.
Behind any endeavor, there is an invisible force of spirit. In the past year, MUers have reflected on the past and looked forward to the future through articles and stories of perseverance. They believe that with cultural prosperity and ideological prosperity, the businesses will natural prosper. Group leaders jointly released the series of corporate books titled “Growing together with MU” and look forward to continuous storytelling becoming part of our culture.
Ten years ago, daring to be a pioneer, we established MU Academy in Ningbo, marking the first internal training program named after “Academy” in the Ningbo foreign trade industry. We dream that MU Academy will last a thousand years. It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to bring up a generation of good men. Overcoming numerous challenges in the journey of development, today we celebrate the 100th session of Elementary Course with 100 post-2000s generation students! President Tom Tang awarded the school badge to students in an unchanging ceremony that embodies historical heritage. The students creatively staged and performed “I Love Working”, conveying the voices of young people in a humorous way. They will undoubtedly contribute youthful energy to the new twenty years.
In his speech on “Micro Multinational Corporation Embarking Anew”, President Tom Tang proposed that MU should seize the opportunity to go beyond exporting Chinese goods to exporting Chinese brands. He emphasized learning from Huawei in striving for excellence, studying Alibaba’s culture, and adopting branding strategies akin to P&G. Our goal is to become China’s first all-category supply chain management enterprise going global, providing global customers with Chinese products and services of extreme cost performance. In today’s retail industry, characterized by disintermediation and debranding, we will have more opportunities to directly sell products to global retailers, including e-commerce platforms. Simultaneously, overseas retail operations will be the sole strategic focus for MU in the coming decade.
Gratitude was expressed towards Sellers Union Group and President Patrick Xu. The origins of MU rooted in Sellers Union. Thanks were extended to all the hardworking MUers, including those who have shared the journey and the silent contributions of colleagues’ families. Appreciation was extended to various government departments, trade bureaus, SINOSURE, banks, customs, freight forwarders, and others for their selfless assistance. Gratitude to all our suppliers for providing us with unwavering support, everything given in silence; appreciation for our business competitors, recognizing that competition fosters prosperity. We aspire to have a broader perspective, greater openness and inclusivity. Let’s unite all available forces, stand together with our business competitors, and unite with everyone, even those who may not recognize us.
MU is likened to children born in winter. In 2008, the global economic crisis lasted for two years, and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 persisted for three years. Under these two major crises, MU has consistently delivered outstanding results. However, we must continue to strive until we achieve success. If success doesn’t come immediately, then we will continue to strive, generation after generation. Responsibilities and powers need to be continuously passed down through organization and culture. The number of people we can organize and mobilize is the boundary of our company’s development. There are enough people on Earth to accommodate an outstanding company. Freeing our minds, seeking truth from facts, and the ability to organize people are critical factors determining the success or failure of the company. MU aims to be a company that seeks truth from facts. Only by fully recognizing mistakes can we concentrate all our efforts to overcome difficulties. By courageously admitting mistakes and actively embracing change, we can regain the understanding and support of our colleagues.
We believe that success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out. The company from twenty years ago aspiring to be “The Yellow Page of Merchandise” now aims to create a worldwide fashion business organization. Tom Tang, Jeff Luo, Amenda Weng, Jessie Lai, Tracy Wang, Barry Xu, Nasha Tong, Wu Jianhui, Chen Zhaohui, Lv Bingneng, Daisy Yan, and other founding colleagues celebrated MU Group’s 20th birthday together. We also want to express our gratitude to Paolo Sun, Nathan Feng and He Zhihong, who couldn’t be here today. Their names will be forever engraved in the history of MU’s development! Tom Tang presented gifts to the founding colleagues and embraced each one personally, creating an unforgettable warmth.
The group also has prepared a special gift for esteemed colleagues who have been with the company for twenty glorious years. Due to trust, there is companionship. Due to persistence, we have experienced an extraordinary twenty years.
20 Meritorious MUers received a golden medal – a symbol of recognition, honor, and responsibility. We express our gratitude not only to these Meritorious MUers but also to the 100 “Outstanding MUer”, 1000 “Contributing MUer” and all the MU fighters who, due to time constraints, couldn’t receive the award on stage!
Foreign traders navigate the world, and their family is always the warmest harbor. Short letters convey deep emotions, and the words echo in our ears. Accompanied by concerns, expectations, and a hint of reproach, the family letters have moved countless audiences, making their eyes moist!
The fantastic singing and dancing performance by the “Little MU Children” earned applause, extending the sincerest greetings and thanks to all the MU family members who silently supported from behind!
“MU Era Channel” is performed by colleagues internally, with representatives from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s taking the stage to showcase the fashion style of MU and the spirit of foreign trade professionals from different eras. Each great enterprise is born in winter. The stage play “Children in Winter” takes us through winter, welcoming the arrival of spring. “Fearless of ice and snow, watch me melt the frost.” The new-generation singer Zhu Zhihao sang the representative song “Guntang” (means “boiling hot”) expressing that only love can withstand all hardships.
The robust development of the group’s business is inseparable from the substantial assistance of our numerous supplier friends. Vice Presidents Jeff Luo and Henry Xu awarded gold medals to Meritorious Partners. Meanwhile, we will also select 20 Outstanding Partners and 500 Contributing Partners. We express gratitude for their long-standing trust, support, and love for MU Group. Currently, we have good cooperation with over 10,000 suppliers in China and Asia, with more than 350 double-strategy suppliers, most of whom have been cooperating with us for over 10 years. We look forward to continuing the journey together, promoting Chinese products around the world!

The dance drama “Ben Ben Kicking off the World” brought MUers’ gratitude to global customers! We value our customers and always honor them as priority. We will also select 20 Meritorious Customers, 50 Outstanding Customers, and 500 Contributing Customers to express our gratitude for the global customers’ recognition and assistance. The world kisses me with pain, and I will respond with a song. Building on the foundation of preliminary auditions, semifinals, and the finals in Ningbo and Yiwu regions, “The Voice of MU” King of Song Competition unfolded as scheduled, featuring four finalists – Taylor Wu from HOMAX DIVISION OF MU, Cecilia Shao from DEALER WELL, Ari from LATIN AMERICA DIVISION OF GU, and Andrew Chen from HARD GOODS DIVISION OF MU. They performed the theme song from “Slam Dunk” reigniting everyone’s youthful dreams. In the end, after intense competition, Taylor Wu emerged as the champion!
In addition to exciting performances, four rounds of lucky draws were arranged to allow more people to share the joy. The outdoor Sports Carnival and MU Foodie Market enabled every participant to enjoy sports and delicious food. Most unforgettable was the gathering of over 3000 colleagues, capturing a long-awaited group photo at Ningbo Olympic Sports Center.
“Do we have no regrets? We will meet again in another twenty years…” The entire audience sang together, expressing their joy and anticipation, singing the most beautiful wishes for the next twenty years. The celebration concluded amid the moving chorus. Believing is seeing. MUers have won a beautiful today through long-term efforts, and they will continue to write new stories of “success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out” on a broader land.
